Honors Faculty and Honors Advising
Honors Teaching Faculty
The faculty who teach honors courses are experienced members of the OSU teaching faculty known for excellence in the classroom as well as in their academic fields. They enjoy challenging honors students in the classroom, and the small class size contributes to a more interactive learning environment. Faculty teaching honors courses are readily available, too, should a student need additional help in an honors class.
Honors Advising
Honors advisors in the Honors College office provide personalized attention to student
needs and interests. All of the advisors have earned Honors Program or Honors College
Degrees or Certifications, so they have personal experience not only as honors advisors,
but as honors students as well.
Honors College students have a kind of "dual citizenship" in their undergraduate college
and in the Honors College, with an advisor in both. Meetings with both the academic
advisor and honors advisor are mandatory before the student enrolls each semester,
and the advisors work together to help the student integrate their honors coursework
into their undergraduate degree plan. In addition to ensuring students are meeting
degree requirements, honors advisors will also think about big picture items, such
as a student's overall professional development, portfolio, well-roundedness, among
other things, that will aid a student's success in the future.
